What actually happens?

The day will start with the little ones having a go but as the light slips over the horizon, the riders grow taller and the costumes get wilder…

You are guaranteed to witness:

  • People sliding down in the mud

  • Grimacing

  • Costumes inappropriate for cycling (but safe for work)

  • Running with bikes

What is Cyclocross?

Cyclocross started out as a winter training sport for road cyclists in the early 20th century, riding road bikes off-road. It quickly grew into a sport in its own right. Today, CX bikes have a similar geometry to road bikes, but with slightly wider grippier tyres and more frame clearance for mud. The result is a much slower race, perfect for watching the pain on participants’ faces, and heckling - er - cheering them on!
