OPEN SEASON

Local cycling clubs play host to Open Meeting events. These track cycling events draw in the best riders from the South-East England and beyond. Each club bringing a unique approach to their event, with music and commentary, and a varying programme of races.

Jan’s Cafe is open with teas, coffee, beer, cider, wines, spirits, soft drinks, as well as warm food.

Racing is free to watch at Herne Hill Velodrome and for spectators there’s no need to book in advance. Join us this summer at the track to enjoy some top notch live racing!

Racing kicks off at 2pm and finishes around 6-7pm depending on programme.

2025 EVENTS

Sat 7th June - Twickenham Cycling Club

Twickenham CC are proud to be presenting their annual race event at Herne Hill Velodrome with a packed day of races. With racing in open senior categories, and based on ability, plus the Mike Cater Memorial 20km to look forward to.


Sat 5th July - Dulwich Paragon

Dulwich Paragon are bringing their Open Season contest to July this year, featuring the ever '(un)popular' Danish Pursuit, which is almost as tiring for the judges as the riders. See you there!


Sat 6th SEPTEMBER - VC Londres

South London classic, and Herne Hill's longest running event, the Roadmans + Roadwoman's returns for another edition this time in September. Put your name in the history books, a 25 mile and 20 km Scratch hosted by VC Londres. With plenty of other racing in Open, Women and Youth categories it’s going to great day.

WHAT YOU NEED TO RACE

Experience
We ask that all riders have previous experience of track racing or a Herne Hill Velodrome Race Accrediatation or equivalent UK Track Accreditation (e.g. Lee Valley Level 4). New to track cycling? Check out our track pathway.

British Cycling Membership + Race Licences
All racers will need to have either a full, provisional or day licence issued by British Cycling in order to race.

British Cycling Race Membership includes a provisional race licence. You can purchase a full racing licence in addition to a Silver or Gold Membership.

If you are not a member of BC or hold a Bronze Race Membership you will need to purchase a licence on the day at sign-on (the cost will be between £5-£10, as detailed here).

EVENT TIMINGS & ENTRY

Timings
Racing starts from 2pm and finishes by 6pm. Riders can arrive from 12.30pm. Timings regarding exact schedule and warm up will be communicated nearer the time by the organiser.

Entry + Costs
Racing costs £15 for adults, £10 for Juniors and £5 for Youths. Entries are all handled online via the links above.
